USACE Silver Jackets Coordinator of the YearThe nomination period has closed. Nomination Procedures Candidates may be nominated by a military or civilian leader from a USACE District, MSC, center, laboratory or headquarters. Silver Jackets Coordinators may also be nominated by a member of their state team. Activity commanders/directors must endorse the nomination in the form of a letter with the Activity Commander/Director’s signature and signature block (electronic signature is acceptable). Activity Commanders/Directors may submit only one nomination from their activity for each award. Nominees for the Silver Jackets Coordinator of the Year also require an endorsement from their State team. Nominees must have worked for USACE for at least part of the 2011 calendar year. Nominations must be prepared in accordance with the criteria and instruction in Appendix B (docx, 18 KB) and must be submitted through this online process no later than 11 April 2012. Please assemble all required materials prior to beginning the online nomination process. Incomplete nominations cannot be saved. The nomination period has closed. Nomination Application and Narrative The entries must consist of a narrative that will not exceed one single-sided page (Arial 10 point font). Selection Process: A panel of professionals from Flood Risk Management will determine the recipients for the Flood Risk Manager of the Year and the Silver Jackets Coordinator of the Year. Nominees are not eligible to serve as judges. The panel reserves the right to forego selecting a winner. Award Notification and Presentation:

Purpose The Flood Risk Management Program awards include awards for Flood Risk Management and Silver Jackets. These awards recognize outstanding individuals who exemplify the goals and objectives of the programs. The awards recognize the efforts of the USACE individuals in Flood Risk Management and Silver Jackets whose performance enhanced the understanding and implementation of flood risk management in the federal, state, tribal, and local governments, as well as with the public. The Silver Jackets USACE individual is recognized for his/her efforts in developing and supporting state teams in the mission of Silver Jackets. These awards seek to recognize the efforts of the Corps to move from flood risk reduction to management of flood risk through communication, cooperation, coordination, and collaboration with federal, state, tribal, regional and local partners. Applicability This recognition program applies to all field operating activities. Policy All nominees for these awards must demonstrate the willingness to go above and beyond his/her normal duties, set an example for others to follow, and use their skills to advance the goals and objectives of the Flood Risk Management Program. The awards are as follows: a. Flood Risk Manager of the Year: This award seeks to recognize outstanding individual efforts and contributions to flood risk management. The Flood Risk Manager of the Year is designed to honor a member of the USACE for his/her outstanding contributions in advancing the goals and objectives of the Flood Risk Management Program. b. Silver Jackets Coordinator of the Year: This award seeks to recognize outstanding individual efforts and contributions to a Silver Jackets team. The Silver Jackets Coordinator of the Year is designed to honor a member of the USACE for his/her outstanding contributions in advancing the goals and objectives of the Silver Jackets program.
