"International Flood Risk Management Approaches: From Theory to Practice"

Thank you to everyone who participated in productive and thought-provoking International Policy-Oriented Discussions, held November 30-December 1, 2010, in Washington, D.C. The objectives of this event, attended by approximately 100 people from nearly 20 countries, were to:

  • Provide an opportunity for nations to share their progress in development and implementation of flood risk management approaches;
  • Learn what others have accomplished internationally (including through international river basin commissions);
  • Identify the strengths of these achievements; and
  • Highlight areas where partnerships can provide mutual advantage.
