    The 2011 USACE Flood Risk Management and Silver Jackets Workshop was held in Nashville, Tennessee on August 15—19. The focus of the workshop was "Sharing Experience in Driving Down Flood Risk." The workshop emphasized interagency activities in managing flood risk, including those of FEMA, the USACE Flood Risk Management and Silver Jackets programs, other Federal agencies, and state and local initiatives such as hazard mitigation plans.

  • 2010 USACE Flood Risk Management Program Workshop
    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers hosted a three-day workshop on flood risk management on 21 - 24 June 2010. The workshop provided a forum for the Corps and key Federal, state, tribal, and local flood mitigation and flood risk management partners to enhance partnerships and collaboration. The workshop emphasized interactions among Corps flood risk managers regarding the implementation of the Flood Risk Management and Silver Jackets programs and how the programs intersect with FEMA and State mitigation programs. Program policy, implementation guidance and strategies, and information sharing with FEMA and state partners was discussed. Participants developed knowledge and skills related to managing flood risk and discussed successes and challenges.
  • Joint Recommendations on Levee Policy developed by the Association of State Floodplain Managers and the National Association of Flood and Stormwater Management Agencies from discussions at the Flood Risk Policy Summit of December 2006
    This April 29, 2007 document contains the joint recommendations of the Association of State Floodplain Managers (ASFPM) and the National Association of Flood and Stormwater Management Agencies (NAFSMA) based on discussions held at the National Flood Risk Management Summit sponsored by ASFPM and NAFSMA in December 2006. The objective of the summit was to provide the invited participants an opportunity to discuss policy proposals for improving national flood risk management. The specific focus was the nexus between the programs of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (the Corps) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
